Mira Sorvino's dad threatens to kill Harvey Weinstein

The actor Paul Sorvino has threatened to "kill" disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, following allegations that the Miramax Films producer deliberately blacklisted Sorvino's Oscar-winning daughter Mira after she rejected his sexual advances.

Speaking to photographers from the gossip site TMZ, Sorvino, best known for playing Mafia tough guys in films including Goodfellas and The Firm, said: "[Weinstein] better hope he goes to jail, because if we come across [each other], I think he'll be lying on the floor somehow."

Asked about the news that prosecutors in Los Angeles are currently weighing two possible legal cases against Weinstein, Sorvino replied: "That son of a b----. Good for him if he goes. If not, he has to meet me, and I'll kill the motherf-----."

Mira Sorvino was one of the many women to come forward last year accusing Weinstein of sexually harassing her in a hotel room in the mid-Nineties. She also told the New York Times that she had long suspected Weinstein had a hand in derailing her movie career, which faded in the years after winning an Oscar for 1995's Mighty Aphrodite, which was distributed by Miramax.

Sorvino's suspicions were confirmed in December, when directors Peter Jackson and Terry Zwigoff took to Twitter claiming that Weinstein had deliberately advised against casting Sorvino (and fellow Weinstein accuser Ashley Judd) in Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy and Zwigoff's 2003 comedy Bad Santa.

In response to Jackson's statement, Sorvino tweeted: "Just seeing this after I awoke, I burst out crying. There it is, confirmation that Harvey Weinstein derailed my career, something I suspected but was unsure. Thank you Peter Jackson for being honest. I'm just heartsick."
