Minwax Names Gentle Olive as Its 2022 Color of the Year
If you've been keeping up with all the Colors of the Year for 2022, you've likely noticed a trend: a lot of green hues. From Sherwin Williams's Evergreen Fog to PPG's Olive Sprig to Benjamin Moore's October Mist, green seems to be the defining shade of 2022—and wood stain brand Minwax agrees. This week, the company announced Gentle Olive as its 2022 Color of the Year.
The shade is a calming blend of sage green and soft grays that embraces the natural tone of wood. Meant to represent a harmony between the indoors and the outdoors, the shade is both grounding and restorative.
"Over the last two years, we have been making our homes a more comforting place—a place focused on our well-being, where we decompress and clear our minds," says Sue Kim, Minwax color marketing manager. "This year's Minwax Color of the Year reflects the search for serenity in our changing routines, as Gentle Olive creates a meditative mood that injects everyday optimism at home."
To complement the calming hue, Minwax recommends pairing Gentle Olive with other nature-inspired shades like Natural Peach, Platinum, Oak Haven, Nightwatch Green, Sunwashed Blue, or Oyster Gray.
