A Minute with Drexel: Making Memorial Day more than one day

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — Memorial Day, a day set aside to remember those who died in service to our country. It’s good to remember them on Memorial Day.

But what about every other day? How can we continue to honor their memory? What can we do to make our corner of the world a better place to live?

For instance: Are we kind to others? Are we forgiving? Are we brave enough to stand up for someone who is in a tough spot? Are we generous enough to sacrifice some of what we have to help those who go without? Do we live our lives EVERY day in such a way that we will one day say, as did the Apostle Paul, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.”

Those are some of the questions I am pondering this weekend of remembrance. Like the ones who’ve gone before us in duty to our country, may we do what we can to help make our world a safer and better place to live. And in doing so, may we leave something good for people to remember us by.

And that’s your Minute with a Drexel.
