Mintdesigns RTW Spring 2022
Nao Yagi and Hokuto Katsui played with light and dark for their spring offering, beginning with sweetly feminine looks in pastel tones, which were modeled in a light-filled warehouse. Later in the digital show as the lights dimmed, the clothes also became darker in color, taking on a slightly more mature look.
Main message: The designers’ shapes were simple — long skirts, shift dresses and camp shirts — but were trimmed with details such as a single slanted ruffle or a row of gathering on one side. Pale peach windowpane checks and mint green stripes gave a country picnic vibe, but a tile print spelling out the brand’s name in sunny yellow was far more unique. Long slipdresses worn over sheer blouses struck a balance between demure and arty, and high waisted, relaxed black trousers were the ideal polished basic to offset the printed tops.

The result: The collection felt even less urban than most of Yagi and Katsui’s other offerings, but still bore their signature eclectic femininity.
