Mindful Monday: Health and mental benefits of having a pet

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET)– Mental health studies are demonstrating positive results in owning a pet and, clinical psychologist, Dr. Corey Gonzales discusses these boosting outcomes during a Mindful Monday segment on 17 News at Sunrise.

According to Dr. Gonzales, pets are evolving to being more acutely attuned to an owner’s thoughts, feelings, and language. Northwestern’s and UC Davis’s studies have shown pets can reduce depression, high cholesterol, heart attacks, anxiety, loneliness, and physical health.
