Mina Starsiak Hawk Reveals She and Her Husband Are Done Having Kids: "We're Not Testing Fate"

Good Bones star Mina Starsiak Hawk revealed she and her husband Steve Hawk are done having kids. In fact, Steve is getting a vasectomy. On Wednesday, the HGTV star answered fans' questions on her Instagram Story. Responding to a question that read "Is Charlotte your last baby?" Starsiak Hawk wrote "yep." She explained that she and Steve "not testing fate." She continued: "We got two amazing nuggets. Momma's done and getting her tummy tucked and Steve's getting snipped."

Starsiak Hawk is currently the mom to 2-year-old son Jack and three-month-old daughter Charlotte, who she welcomed this past September. Her decision to cap her family at two children comes after a grueling battle with infertility and a difficult pregnancy.

While she conceived Jack with no difficulties, Charlotte was a bit more complex. As Starsiak Hawk also revealed in her Instagram Story, the couple started trying for their second child shortly after having Jack. After a few fruitless months, they sought medical attention, which revealed that Starsiak Hawk's egg count was very low.

That being said, the couple decided to try IVF — which also proved to be ineffective. After a failed round, "we were told another round of IVF would be unsuccessful and our only option for me to carry another baby would be with a donor egg," she shared in an emotional post on Instagram in late 2019. She also told People that a doctor had told her she had less than a one percent chance of conceiving at the time.

This news devastated Starsiak Hawk as she really had her heart set on creating this baby without involving a third party. Despite her slim to nothing odds, she became pregnant with Charlotte in early 2021.

However, the pregnancy that followed was by no means a walk in the park. When carrying Charlotte, she was diagnosed with diastasis recti, which is "the partial or complete separation of the rectus abdominis, or 'six-pack' muscles, which meet at the midline of your stomach, according to Healthline. The condition alters the stomach's appearance which factored into Starsiak Hawk's decision to get a tummy tuck, as well as her feelings towards her post-partum body and C-section scar. As of now, the mom-of-two has not confirmed a date for that.

Given Starsiak Hawk’s miraculous second pregnancy, it makes sense why she and Steven wouldn’t want to test their luck again. Plus, as she already noted, they do have two adorable children — and that’s a blessing in itself.
