Milo Ventimiglia Drops the ‘This Is Us’ Season Finale Spoilers We’ve Been Waiting For

You’ve spent sleepless nights wondering why an elderly Jack Pearson appears in the promo for the season two finale of This Is Us, and now Milo Ventimiglia has answers (kind of).

The Pearson family patriarch played coy about his character’s part in the finale on Megyn Kelly Today, but he did divulge a tiny spoiler.

When asked what part present-day Jack will play in “The Wedding” episode, Ventimiglia said,“I held out on telling you how Jack passed for months—you think I’m going to tell you why Jack is old? I can’t do it yet!”

Thankfully, he shifted gears and gave us some dirt: “But I will tell you this, though: Again, in true Dan Fogelman [fashion], as well as the rest of our writers—we have the most amazing writers on our crew—they have built this beautiful idea of giving the audience an aged version of Jack. Even though we saw Jack pass, it doesn’t mean that I, Milo, will leave the show. There’s no Ned Stark happening, nothing like that.” So old Jack is here to stay? Yesss!

This Is Us executive producer and co-showrunner Isaac Aptaker echoed Ventimiglia’s Pearson intel in an interview with Variety and said the finale will explore “what could have been.” He expounded on the episode in greater detail: “It’s so powerful and poignant and haunting and tragic all at once... It’s about how a family can experience an incredibly tragic loss and still fight through it and move forward and find happiness and joy. They can remember the man they lost and still live the lives he would have wanted them to live—lives that just aren’t about grieving him.”

The This Is Us season two finale airs tonight, March 13, at 9 p.m. on NBC, and we’re bracing for the heartbreak.
