Millions of tulips set to bloom at Fun Farm Tulip Festival in Kearney

KEARNEY, Mo. — For those who’ve always wanted to tiptoe through the tulips, now is their chance.

The Tulip Festival at the Fun Farm in Kearney, Missouri started this weekend.

Hundreds of thousands of tulips are in full bloom all around the farm.

Visitors can spend a full day there taking photos, climbing through tree houses and riding the carousel or the train.

They planted 1.5 million tulip bulbs organized to bloom in succession for the next several weeks. There’s a giant windmill on the hill overlooking the patchwork of tulips. It can make someone feel like they’re in Holland instead of Missouri.

They are really good to withstand the temperatures,” Debbie Bruce with the Fun Farm said. “And the rain and wind because it gets pretty windy out here. They’re pretty hard. That’s why the season lasts anywhere from 3 to 4 weeks.”

“You see them from the road. You see them from the entrance and they’re just beautiful there’s no other way to describe it just beautiful.”

On the heels of the tulip festival, there’s a you-pick strawberry season.

In the fall, the Fun Farm includes you-pick apples, peaches, pears and of course pumpkins.
