Millie Bobby Brown Talks Shaving Head for "Stranger Things"

For the role of her Stranger Things character, Eleven, Millie Bobby Brown plays a heroic best friend with supernatural powers. And thanks to a recent tweet, many are feeling pretty inspired by the star IRL, too.

Viewers of Stranger Things may recall that Millie's character had a shaved head for much of the first season. Then in its second season, Eleven had longer, curlier locks. On January 14, the actress tweeted that she missed her shaved head. She followed up the tweet with a message that resonated with fans and followers all over the world. She said: "shaving your head is so empowering. You don't need hair to be beautiful. You are beautiful with or without. I learnt that too x."

The star shared a behind the scenes video of the moment she shaved off her hair. In the short clip Millie is seated in a salon chair, watching as her head is shaved. The video was accompanied by a meaningful caption. "The day I shaved my head was the most empowering moment of my whole life," she tweeted. "The last strand of hair cut off was the moment my whole face was on show and I couldn’t hide behind my hair like I used to. As I looked in the mirror I realized I had one job to do. Inspire."

After she posted the series of tweets, many fans shared how they were inspired by Eleven and Millie to shave off their own hair. Among those influenced was a 7-year-old, who later stood up to the bullies who made fun of her; a fan who donated their hair; and another follower who used the act of shaving their head as a means of coping with grief.

Millie's mentions have since filled with stories of people who shaved their hair or felt inspired by her message of empowerment. Though we're all eager to get back to the upside down and resume our Stranger Things adventure, Millie proved that no telepathic powers are needed when it comes to encouraging others.
