How to Get Millie Bobby Brown’s Nail Art From the 2018 SAG Awards

Stranger ThingsMillie Bobby Brown is poised to take home not just one, but two Screen Actors Guild Awards tonight. Nominated for the second year in a row for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, as well as Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, Brown has good reason to have her nails primed and ready for snagging a coveted SAG statue…or statues.

She enlisted polish pro Steph Stone and Essie to do the job before hitting the red carpet in a shimmery Calvin Klein dress and crisp Converse sneakers. “I had a lot of fun with tonight’s look including hair and makeup, so we came up with something playful!” said Brown of her almond-shaped, white tips accented by bubblegum-colored stripes. “I wanted my nails to play off the white and pink pops in my outfit, so I chose a nail art design with bold pink lines using Essie.” Stone prepped the star’s nails with Essie’s First Base and applied two coats of Essie Nail Color in Blanc. After allowing nails to dry for a few minutes, she used a striping brush to draw a thin band of Essie Nail Color in Cascade down the center before topping off the entire mani with Essie’s Speed Setter.

In addition to her graphic nail art, the 13-year-old actor sported slicked-back space buns (a style made famous by women like Baby Spice long before she was born) tied off with black satin ribbons, glittery lids, and bright fuchsia lipstick. “My little sister — she's six — I go and play Barbie dolls with her. It's like the most fun. Or I go and play in the garden with my dog. It's that simple,” she told E!’s Giuliana Rancic when asked how she remains a “normal” kid while staying perpetually in the spotlight. And she undoubtedly looked every bit the real-life Barbie — the 2018 version who pairs tennis shoes with millennial pink sequins and counts Drake among her “fan boys” — on the red carpet, reminding girls around the globe that you should always celebrate (wearing comfy kicks, of course) regardless of the outcome. “I always dance,” said Brown of her practical-yet-fashionable footwear. “Losing or winning, you should always dance!”

While she won’t be attending any after-parties (“I can’t party — I’m only 13,” she told Rancic) she’ll continue to admire her polish job as she’s eating pizza post-show with her family in front of a movie. May we suggest breaking for a brief dance party…and blasting Drake’s “Started From The Bottom” between bites.
