Millie Bobby Brown’s Kids’ Choice Awards Look Had a Hidden Message

Fashion has the power to act as a blank canvas for bigger ideas or statements, and what better way to spread the word than at a paparazzi-filled red carpet? Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown embraced that spirit at the 2018 Kids’ Choice Awards in Inglewood, California, last night. On the eve of March For our Lives, which saw anti-gun protests occur across the world with celebrities coming out to support, Brown wore a custom look by Calvin Klein that paid homage to the student and youth-led movement. (Bonus: She looked super cute doing it, too.)

Wearing a denim button-up shirt and jeans, accented by white striping or pockets, Brown’s look featured “Never Again” embroidered onto the front, a statement that nods to the #NeverAgain social media hashtag, which calls for an end to school shootings. On the back of her shirt, the 17 names of the Parkland, Florida, shooting victims were also embroidered underneath the March for Our Lives title. She later acknowledged the movement in a speech while accepting her award for Favorite TV Actress, saying, “The March for Our Lives demonstrations that took place all over the world today have inspired me and impacted us all in one way or another. . . I get to be up here, and I'm privileged to have a voice that can be heard, one that I can use to hopefully make a positive difference and help influence change.” Beauty and brains—a winning combo.
