Millie Bobby Brown Honored the Parkland Shooting Victims at the 2018 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards
The March for Our Lives left an impact on many people; celebrities and "regular" folks alike came together on March 24 to raise their voices and call for an end to gun violence. And later that night, the message for change was still loud and clear at the 2018 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, where Millie Bobby Brown showed up wearing a denim shirt with the names of the 17 victims of the Parkland, Florida shooting embroidered on the back.
As noted by E! News, Millie's Calvin Klein button-down showcased the names of the victims in white lettering. Across her shoulder blades read the words: "March for our lives."
And the Stranger Things actress didn't stop there. While accepting her award for Favorite TV Actress, she drew attention to the march that had taken place earlier that day. "As we saw a moment ago, the March for Our Lives demonstrations that took place all over the world today have inspired me and impacted us all in one way or another," Millie said at the podium. "But more than anything, I get to be up here, and I'm privileged to have a voice that can be heard, one that I can use to hopefully make a positive difference and help influence change."
Millie also chose to dedicate her award to the victims, adding at the end of her speech: "For the angels among us, your spirit lives on. This is for you."
In addition to speaking about the March for Our Lives at the awards, Millie also raised awareness for the movement on Instagram earlier in the weekend. "No child, teen, parent or teacher should be afraid to walk into their school or classroom," she wrote, along with a photo of the march's logo. "This is our chance to be HEARD! This is our chance to MAKE A DIFFERENCE. This world needs to be filled with love, kindness and support of one another. No more fear, no more hurt, no more shootings, no more GUNS."
