With this growing level of fame comes more and more eyes on her personal life—and that includes plenty of questions about Millie Bobby Brown’s fiancé, Jake Bongiovi.

Though Brown typically keeps much of her private life out of the public eye, her engagement to Jake Bongiovi has sparked plenty of speculation about the young couple’s relationship. Up ahead, we’re diving into Millie Bobby Brown’s dating history—including details about her relationship with her boyfriend-turned-fiancé—and the brief romances she was linked to before him.

Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi’s first started dating in June 2021 after connecting on Instagram. “We were friends for a bit,” Brown revealed in a November 2022 Wired interview, and the rest, as they say, was history. Within weeks of meeting, the pair were photographed holding hands while out on a stroll in New York City. After about five months of dating, Brown and Bongiovi seemingly confirmed that they were dating when Brown shared a blurry photo of them sharing a kiss while riding the London Eye. It wasn’t long before the couple went on to make their red carpet debut at the BAFTA Awards in March 2022.

Then, after nearly two years of dating in April 2023, Jon Bon Jovi’s son asked the Stranger Things actress to marry him. Brown, who was 19 at the time, said yes. She shared a picture of herself wearing her engagement ring with her 20-year-old fiancé via Instagram at the time, captioning the photo, “I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, I want ‘em all,” referencing the Taylor Swift lyric.

Fans of the young star had mixed reactions to her engagement. “She’s so young idk whether to congratulate her or say sorry,” one person wrote via X (formerly Twitter) after her engagement announcement, while another commented, “Damn sis did u even give your youth a chance.” Others, however, defended the actress for her decision. “Some people want a family and think of commitment and I respect that,” one commenter wrote on Instagram. “I don’t think people should insert their not needed opinions.”

In her October 2023  Glamour cover story, Brown seemed to brush off the criticism over getting engaged at such a young age. “We were modeled wonderful, loving relationships,” she told the magazine. “So, it’s something that we both had that mutual drive for.” However, the actress was candid about the fact that she “never” strictly planned to get married before meeting Bongiovi.

“My dream was to have a baby. I wanted to be the woman that my mom is to me and I wanted to be the woman that my grandmother was to me,” Brown explained. “So that was never my, like, intention, to be a wife.” But Bongiovi shifted her perspective on marriage. “After meeting Jake and seeing, ‘Oh, I don’t have to be this stereotypical wife for him. He doesn’t want me to be that either. He wants me to go and do my thing and live my life, and he will hold my hand in the process of that.’ I was like, ‘Oh, I do want this,’” she shared.

Brown previously opened up about her feelings for the former college football player in an interview with The Times of London, telling the outlet in August 2023 that she “knew” Bongiovi was the one as soon as they met. “As soon as we spoke I knew he was going to be a huge part of my life,” Brown explained. “I ran to my mum and said, ‘I really, really like him!’ After we met we knew we never wanted to leave each other’s side.”

“You can’t pinpoint why,” Brown added. “It’s just the feeling of knowing that that’s the person you want to spend the rest of your time with. I think so much of life is overthinking. The one thing that made clear sense to me was him.”

Joseph Robinson (2020)

Prior to her engagement with Jake Bongiovi, Millie Bobby Brown’s most serious relationship was with British rugby player Jason Robinson’s son, Joseph Robinson. The pair reportedly met on vacation in the Maldives in November 2019 and went on to date for around ten months before calling it quits in August 2020.

Breakup rumors first started to circulate after eagle eyed fans noticed that the duo, who frequently commented on and liked each other’s posts on social media, appeared to have unfollowed each other sometime over the summer of 2020. Their split was later confirmed in a report by The Sun. According to a source who spoke to the outlet, distance might have been a factor behind their split. “They were very full on and happy to show it on social media, but it seems as though things have just run their course,” the insider shared. “The time apart has obviously been challenging. They’re both flying in their careers at the moment.”

“Millie has become a huge star overnight and Joseph’s rugby career is really on the rise, so perhaps it just wasn’t the time for them to have a romance,” the source continued at the time. “Of course they’re both still very young, so no doubt there’s lots ahead for both of them.”

Jacob Sartorius and Millie Bobby Brown first went public with their relationship in October 2017. The pair, who dated for less than a year, were pretty open about their relationship—often sharing plenty of PDA on social media in the form of cute selfies together and sweet birthday tributes.

While their relationship didn’t last, the exes did seem to end on pretty good terms. Both Brown and Sartorius decided to share a joint statement to their Instagram Storiees when they called it quits in July 2018. “The decision with Jacob and I was completely mutual. We are both happy and remaining friends,” Brown wrote via her Instagram Story, while Sartorius wrote, “The decision w mills was completely mutual & we are both happy and remaining friends.” It was rumored later that year that the former couple tried to rekindle things, but neither Brown nor Sartorius ever publicly addressed the speculation.
