Military Dads Have Tea With Their Daughters In This Sweet Photo Series

From Country Living

Vanessa Hicks, a photographer from California, knows all too well the challenges of raising a military family. Her husband, Joshua, is a naval officer who has served for over 15 years. Vanessa is also a Navy veteran, and a mother of two daughters, Jasmine and Tatyana.

Vanessa wanted to do something special for military parents and their children, so she began hosting tea parties (she called them "Military Tea Time Mini Sessions") while taking photos of the adorable fathers and daughters. She explained her special project to the Huffington Post:

Every time families move, children have to make new friends, get used to new schools, and find new clubs and teams to join. So, I wanted to document a special moment with a little girl and the one person that she looks up to the most, the one person who fights for our freedom.

While only fathers and daughters have participated in the program, she's hoping to work on a new project with a theme for mothers and sons. This isn't the first time her work has caught viral fame; her "#flagbaby photo" from March 2015 caught the nation's attention. For this particular photo series though, she hopes to illustrate that military men and women are "just people as well. Parents, spouses, sons and daughters."

See below from some of the most heartwarming photos from her project, including a sweet picture of Vanessa's husband with the couple's daughters.
