Miley Cyrus's new EP She Is Coming is Cyrus's way of very candidly talking about her lifestyle, her partying, and her drug use (Cyrus is an open fan of marijuana and in 2013, she sang about molly in her hit single "We Can't Stop"). Now her new song "Unholy," the second track on her EP, candidly addresses her public image of being a wild child and provocateur.

In the lyrics-written by Cyrus, Andrew Wyatt, Ilsey Juber, Jasper Sheff, and John Cunningham-Cyrus fully owns her lifestyle. Her response to those critical of her? "I'm a little bit unholy / So what? So is everyone else."

Cyrus spoke to Vanity Fair earlier this year about how important being authentic to herself is-and how her songs, like "Unholy" now, are a snapshot of who she is in a certain moment.

"I try to be true to myself in every state of being," she said. "When I can, I will stand still, work through, sit in, observe, and get to know exactly 'who that is' privately. My creative process comes from feeling inspired by life experiences, not pressured by industry standards. I will never put my own plan before nature’s, or jeopardize personal growth for professional advantage. That said, if it’s a time in my life like now where I am publicly sharing my stories, my music, my art, 'who I am' unfolds in front of everyone and we go through all of this together. When people hear my music, they hear a fragment of time, something I feel or felt right then. By the time it gets to your ears, I may have grown past it, but I am truest to who I am at that very second."

With that context in mind, here, the full lyrics via Genius, and how they tie into what Cyrus has said in past interviews about her life.

Chorus:

I'm a little drunk, I know it

I’ma get high as hell

I'm a little bit unholy

So what? So is everyone else

I'm a little drunk, I know it

I’ma get high as hell

Cyrus talked openly about choosing not to smoke marijuana for a while so she could focus on her work. She started using it again at the end of last year but only in her free time. "My mom got me back on it," Cyrus told The Sun. "When I’m just working, I don’t think I function at my highest, most intelligent, most being-able-to-be-as-aware-and-as-present, so I don’t smoke when I work."

Cyrus first made it clear how much she loved pot in her 2013 Rolling Stone interview. That was during her Bangerz era. "I think weed is the best drug on earth," she said at the time. "One time I smoked a joint with peyote in it, and I saw a wolf howling at the moon. Hollywood is a coke town, but weed is so much better. And molly, too. Those are happy drugs-social drugs. They make you want to be with friends."

I'm a little bit unholy

So what? So is everyone else

Verse:

Wake up in the middle of a breakdown, yeah, uh

Have sex on the table with the takeout (Uh)

Cyrus is married now, but she has not shied away from making it clear how into her husband Liam Hemsworth she is. Cyrus told Vanity Fair that she wrote most of the music before she and Hemsworth lost their Malibu home in the Woolsey fire. (They got married after that, in part because they took in that loss together.) "You know my truth," she said. "I also wrote a lot of this next record before my fucking entire house burned down, and my whole fucking life changed.”

I'm sick of the faking, the using, the taking

The people calling me obscene

This is Cyrus's response to those critical of her image and those who condemn her lifestyle. (Cyrus is not ashamed to express her sexuality, curse, or talk about pot, which in the past has turned off more prudish fans who first knew her from her squeaky-clean Disney Channel star days.)

You hate me, you love me, you just wanna touch me

I'm only trying to get some peace

So let me do me

Chorus:

I'm a little drunk, I know it

I'ma get high as hell

I'm a little bit unholy

So what? So is everyone else (Hey)

I'm a little drunk, I know it

I’ma get high as hell

I’m a little bit unholy

So what? So is everyone else

Post-Chorus:

So what? So is everyone else

So what? So is everyone else

Chorus:

I'm a little drunk, I know it

I’ma get high as hell

I'm a little bit unholy

So what? So is everyone else

Post-Chorus:

So what? So is everyone else

So what? So is everyone else

Yeah
