Miley Cyrus Wore a Denim Tuxedo Covered in Smiley Faces & Flowers

Since dropping her album Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz and hosting the MTV VMAs, Miley Cyrus has been eerily quiet. She hasn’t attempted to free her nipples on Instagram, hasn’t angered any rappers, and her outfits haven’t resulted in any complaints. But the singer, who’s already lived a few lives in her 22 years, obviously couldn’t be tamed for too long.
On Tuesday night, Cyrus was spotted leaving Lattanzi, a restaurant in New York City, up to her old style tricks. Wearing her now signature ROYGBV scrunchie with blonde dreadlocks attached, she wore a denim jumpsuit. But because nothing she wears is ever normal these days (I mean were they ever? A teenager living a double life as a pop star is pretty weird.) she topped the very ‘70s piece off with an oversized jean jacket decorated with ‘90s-inspired patches. From green aliens and yellow smiley faces to yellow and white daisies and palm trees, the coat could’ve been picked out of a vintage bin.
As for accessories, the performer, who will be pulling double duty on Saturday Night Live’s premiere episode on Oct. 3 as the host and musical guest, wore plexiglass earrings in the shape of Swiss cheese, a large pink plastic heart ring, and Converse.

In an Instagram teasing her appearance with castmember Taran Killam, Cyrus was pictured in an iridescent silver mini dress covered in what appears to be an explosion of arts and crafts supplies. Obviously her reticence couldn’t last long. After all, she can’t be tamed.
