Miley Cyrus Spilled Major Details About Her Split From Liam Hemsworth, Hotel Transylvania , Drug Use, and More
Miley Cyrus is setting the record straight about her split from Liam Hemsworth — and her life decisions up to this point.
In a tweet storm on August 22, Miley went all the way back to her youth to talk about her previous choices, and to defend herself against online accusations that she cheated on Liam. She began by clarifying, “I can accept that the life I’ve chosen means I must live completely open and transparent with my fans who I love, and the public, 100% of the time. What I cannot accept is being told I’m lying to cover up a crime I haven’t committed. I have nothing to hide.”
From there she said that after she and Liam reconciled the first time, she was “committed” to the relationship. “There are NO secrets to uncover here. I’ve learned from every experience in my life. I’m not perfect, I don’t want to be, it’s boring. I’ve grown up in front of you, but the bottom line is, I HAVE GROWN UP,” she tweeted, before adding that her feelings toward Liam are consistent. “I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating. Liam and I have been together for a decade. I’ve said it before & it remains true, I love Liam and always will.”
Miley and Liam announced their separation on August 11 after marrying last December. This week, Liam reportedly filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences,” but the two have been relatively tight-lipped about the end of their relationship up to this point.
In between comments about her marriage on Twitter, Miley got vulnerable about her history — the twerking, her relationships, drug use, and more. “I f*cked up and cheated in relationships when I was young,” she wrote. “I lost a massive Walmart deal at 17 for ripping a bong. I swung on a wrecking ball naked. There are probably more nudes of me on the internet than maybe any woman in history.”
She also shared that the reason for her departure from the animated movie Hotel Transylvania was because she bought Liam “a penis cake for his birthday” and licked it. At the time, she was set to voice the character of Mavis; she was replaced by Selena Gomez.
Despite those tumultuous years, Miley said she’s now “the healthiest and happiest” she’s been “in a long time,” and that she’s making healthy decisions in her life. “You can say I am a twerking, pot smoking, foul mouthed hillbilly but I am not a liar,” she tweeted. “I am proud to say, I am simply in a different place from where I was when I was a younger.”
