Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's Cutest Couple Moments

Welp, it’s a sad weekend for #Miam fans and general believers in love everywhere: Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have decided to call it quits.

The couple announced their separation on Saturday, August 10; Miley’s rep confirmed the breakup in a statement to People, explaining further: “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

News of Miley and Liam’s split came approximately eight months into their marriage; the couple tied the knot in December 2018 in an intimate ceremony surrounded by friends and family. Earlier this summer, the couple celebrated their 10 year anniversary, having met on the set of The Last Song a decade ago.

Despite what seemed like a fairy tale ending to a relationship filled with ups and downs, a source told E! News that Miley and Liam were “drifting apart” in recent weeks. “They have been trying to make it work for months now but haven't felt they were connecting on the level they were feeling when they got married last year,” the source said, adding: “It's been a rough year.”

While it’s always a good idea to take sources with a grain of salt, it seems as though Miley and Liam have both agreed that this time and space is what they each need in order to move forward. Of course, fans of the pair are naturally sad about the split, with many taking to social media to express their emotions.

In honor of Miam’s impact, we’ve rounded up the most memorable moments of their love story: from the beginning of their romance to red carpet jokes, check out some of Miley and Liam’s sweetest memories we will never forget.

Where it all began: The Last Song

No list would be complete without a nod to The Last Song, the film that sparked their decade-long relationship. In March 2010, Miley and Liam told Teen Vogue that they felt the chemistry almost instantaneously.

“From the first time we read, it was like I had known her before,” Liam recalled, with Miley adding: “I think we're both deeper than normal people — what they think and how they feel. He's very grateful for what he has, but he doesn't let it go to his head. I'm like that too.”

When they got engaged (for the first time) in 2012.

Just a couple years after meeting, the pair announced an engagement. “I'm so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam,” Miley said at the time. They ended up splitting one year later, but eventually rekindled their romance in 2015, with Miley confirming an engagement (again) in 2016. Whew.

Let's talk about all those birthday tributes.

No one does a birthday celebration like Miam. From unicorn-covered crafts to sappy love letters, Miley and Liam sure knew how to make one another feel special.

And so many holidays.

Never one to turn down an excuse to get festive, Miley and Liam have proven to be the ultimate hosts for holiday parties. Matching sweaters? Check. Elaborate Instagram-worthy decorations? Check. Adorable selfies? Check, check, check!

Liam often turned to Instagram to declare his love for Miley.

OK, let’s talk about their wedding. (Crying emoji for days.)

With their “one-millionth kiss,” Miley and Liam officially became husband and wife in December 2018. Photos from the low-key event showed Miley wearing a satiny off-the-shoulder white gown as she posed in front of a romantic floral backdrop. But because this is Miley and Liam we're talking about here, they had plenty of fun as well: highlights included the bride getting down to the now-iconic dance floor jam “Uptown Funk” and eating straight from the wedding buffet. A mood!

No matter what, they always found a way to have fun together.

One of the things we loved most about Miam was the way they always seemed to laugh lovingly at one another (and themselves). From play-fights on the red carpet to pulling off hilarious photobombs, one thing remains clear: no matter what the future holds, Miley and Liam have made some incredible memories along the way.
