Miley Cyrus Got an Artsy New Tattoo

Another day, another Miley Cyrus tattoo — at least it seems that way. Today, Cyrus debuted a new tattoo that blends high art and what may just be a tribute to International Women's Day, which is just a few days away. Cyrus's new ink is inspired by Henri Matisse and his famous female nudes and she shouted out the master in her Instagram caption.

"'Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin. Dance me through the panic till I'm gathered safely in,'" she wrote. "'Touch me with your naked hand or touch me with your glove. Dance me to the end of love.' Matisse X Cohen."

The lyrics come from Leonard Cohen's "Dance Me to the End of Love"

Nico Bassill, the artist behind the new tat, also posted a photo of it on his own feed. He added a quote from Matisse, writing, "'An artist must never be a prisoner. Prisoner? An artist should never be a prisoner of himself, prisoner of style, prisoner of reputation, prisoner of success, etc.' - Henri Matisse."

Fun fact for fans of the new addition: there's a connection between the famed artist and the storied musician. Matisse did the artwork for Cohen's book, which was also called Dance Me to the End of Love.

And Cyrus isn't the only one adding to her extensive collection. Her boyfriend, Cody Simpson, also got new ink. He showed it off on Instagram, too, captioning the video "Who is Prince Neptune?" His new tattoo is a tiny trident and there's no indication that the two got their work done together — though it wouldn't be the first time.
