Miley Cyrus Felt Like She "Really Made It" When Her Infamous 2013 VMAs Performance Pissed Off Cher

From Delish

  • Miley Cyrus said that Cher gave her brutal feedback on her infamous 2013 VMA performance.

  • Miley wasn't too hurt by it, though—she instead felt like she "made it" because Cher took notice of her.

Say whatever the f*ck you want about Miley Cyrus, but she has a way of turning nasty rumors and comments about her into a) a positive situation, b) something to laugh about, or c) all of the above....and I absolutely love that about her! Case in point: When the one and only Cher had some negative things to say about Miley a few years ago when the 2013 "Blurred Lines" VMAs twerking fiasco happened, she took the comments in total stride.

Reflecting on that historic moment in time on Billy Idol's upcoming SiriusXM special, “Live Transmission Christmas,” Miley said, “I had Cher come after me on Twitter… that’s when I thought I had really made it. I’m like, ‘Oh, Cher gives a f*ck about what I’m doing.’”

As a reminder, Cher pretty much called Miley's performance a hot piece of garbage in an interview with USA Today. “I’m not old-fashioned,” she said. “She could have come out naked, and if she’d just rocked the house, I would have said, ‘You go, girl.’ It just wasn’t done well. She can’t dance, her body looked like hell, the song wasn’t great, one cheek was hanging out. And, chick, don’t stick out your tongue if it’s coated.”

Miley continued, and told Billy “she was mad that I was sticking my tongue out all the time, and all that shit. And I’m like, ‘Yo, I pissed Cher off, I really made it!’ That’s what I mean: When these legends, and these icons, and these artists that we look up to — when they, y’know… f*cking hate us, it’s still a compliment.”

IDK about you, but I personally aspire to be that unbothered—teach me your ways, Miley! 😭
