Miley Cyrus Confirms Cody Simpson Dating Rumors With an Epic Clapback

Just one day after Miley Cyrus confirmed that she was seeing Cody Simpson—and basically asked the world to just let her live—the Australian singer also made their relationship Insta-official. Simpson posted a photo to Instagram Stories of him kissing Cyrus on the forehead. "Pre swim breakfast courtesy of baby," he captioned it. (Simpson was competing in a swim meet over the weekend, which you can follow along on social media.)

He also shared a picture of their cozy breakfast: banana-covered toast and a smoothie. These two sure seem to love breakfast dates.

Just one day after Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson were spotted kissing over breakfast in Los Angeles, the "Slide Away" singer has responded to critics who say she's moving on too quickly from her relationship with soon-to-be ex-husband Liam Hemsworth.

In a lengthy message posted to social media, Cyrus made it very clear that she's a grown woman now and can and will date whomever she wants.

“I know the public feels invested in my past relationship because they felt like they saw it thru from the beginning,” Cyrus began her post, seemingly referencing her marriage to the actor, which ended over the summer. “I think that’s why people have always felt so entitled over my life and how I live it because they’ve watched me grow up.”

She continued, “But I am grown now and make choices as an adult knowing the truth/details/reality. People only ‘know’ what they see on the internet.”

The 26-year-old pop star went on to say she there shouldn't be a double standard when it comes to how men and women date. In fact, she doesn't believe she should be expected to stay quiet following her breakup.

“Men (especially successful ones) are RARELY slut-shamed,” she wrote.

"They move on from one beautiful young woman to the next MOST times without consequence," she explained. "They are usually referred to as ‘legends,’ ‘heartthrobs,’ ‘G,’ ‘Ladies Man,’ etc…. where women are called sluts/whores!"

"I am just trying to thrive in a man's world. If we can't beat 'em, join 'em! If our president can 'grab em by the p****'…. can’t I just have a kiss and an açai bowl?!?!” she concluded the first part of her statement.

Cyrus later asked her fans and the public to be patient with her and allow her to date publicly without the scrutiny.

"This 'dating' thing is new to me too," she wrote. "I've never been an 'adult'/ grown-ass woman experiencing this... I was in a committed relationship for almost all my teens and early 20s; with the exception of a few breaks."

"I have a great life I wouldn't trade for 'privacy' but PLEASE don't make this awkward for me!" she added. "Get used to me dating—this is where I'm at."

Before breaking her silence, Cyrus also seemingly confirmed her romance with the Australian singer by pointing out all the reasons he's exactly her type.

Alongside a black-and-white shot of Simpson posing shirtless, she wrote on her Instagram Story: “22 [check] Australian (my type) [check] Abs [check]."

In another Story, she addresses the TMZ video footage of her and Simpson kissing at Backyard Bowls, writing, “Can a girl not get a f***ing açai bowl and a morning make-out session in peace?!?!”

Under the video, Cyrus added, “lol sneaky ass.”

As previously reported, Cyrus and Hemsworth announced their split in August after more than a decade together. She has since spent time with Kaitlynn Carter, but the two parted ways last month after a few weeks of dating.

Though it's unclear where things are headed with Simpson, sources told Entertainment Tonight the longtime friends have "no plans to start dating."

"Miley and Cody have been friends for years. They have hooked up in the past," the insider explained. "Cody and Miley have no plans to start dating each other exclusively. They both just want to have fun and are open and honest with each other about that."

They also note that "Miley wants to show people she isn’t willing to change to satisfy others. She wants to be open and honest and hook up with whomever she pleases. Right now Cody is that person."

Case in point: Cyrus's latest message is loud and clear—she just wants the right to live her life and date new people.
