Miley Cyrus Clapped Back at People Slut-Shaming Her for Kissing Australian Singer Cody Simpson

Since splitting from longtime love Liam Hemsworth this past summer, Miley Cyrus and her newfound dating life have been the subject of countless story headlines — and she's officially over it. The 26-year-old singer-songwriter took to Twitter on Friday, October 4, to address her issues with people not only discussing every detail of her private life, but also with them slut-shaming her for dating and simply doing her thing.

After briefly dating Brody Jenner's ex, Kaitlyn Carter, this past September, the "Malibu" singer reconnected with a rumored old flame: Australian pop star, Cody Simpson. The two, who have maintained a friendship since 2011, made headlines when they were seen kissing on Friday morning, which is likely what prompted Cyrus to post the following thread on Twitter.

In addition to her Twitter statement, which claps back at people for slut-shaming women but rarely ever men, she also posted a screenshot of someone who took a photo of her and the 22-year-old singer kissing over breakfast with the caption: "Can a girl not get a fucking acai bowl and morning make out session in peace ?!?!"

The Twitter thread in question has already wracked up thousands of likes and comments, and it was even retweeted by Kendall Jenner, who shared Cyrus's sentiment. "I feel this! live your life girl ❤️," wrote the supermodel.

In the statement, Cyrus pointed out how tough it's been to date in the public eye, yet said she refuses to "recluse and 'date' from home" because it's not fun and puts her in a vulnerable position. Additionally, she begged fans not to make dating harder for her than it already is by constantly critiquing her every move. "This 'dating' thing is new to me too," she wrote. "Get used to me dating! This is where I'm at," she added with the hashtag "HotGirlFall."

This goes without saying, but Cyrus shouldn't have to explain herself to anyone. That being said, props to her for sticking up for herself and shutting down the slut shamers. Here's to doing you this #HotGirlFall, Miley.
