DENVER (KDVR) — The Mile High 420 Festival is a 21-and-over event that celebrates the legalization of marijuana in Colorado and the “cannabis culture.”

The festival will be held at Civic Center Park starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday and last all day into the night.

Is it legal to consume recreational marijuana in public in Colorado?

While the website says it’s the world’s largest free 420 celebration, there are a few things you should be prepared for – besides the smell of marijuana.

Forecast

It’s going to be a rainy week, with showers pushing into Saturday.

Saturday is going to be cooler with highs in the lower 50s, and early showers and clouds through the afternoon. There are scattered shower chances through the afternoon, but the weather looks clearer overnight.

Lineup

One of the headliners is Gucci Mane, who sings “I Get the Bag.” You may also recognize some other artists like Afroman, who sings 420 classics like “Crazy Rap” with the well-known chorus “Colt 45 and two zig-zags, baby that’s all we need,” along with another fan favorite “Because I Got High.”

Other rappers and artists will also be at the concert.

Here are the artists playing at the festival:

  • Gucci Mane

  • OhGeesy

While the artists might be in the 420 spirit singing about weed, that doesn’t necessarily mean you can bring it.

What not to bring

Despite the concert’s nature, the website makes it clear that public consumption of marijuana is prohibited, and it’s illegal to possess more than one ounce of marijuana or its equivalent in marijuana products under Colorado law.

This is a free event, but you still need to reserve your ticket. There are also limited VIP tickets for $175.

Parking

There is street parking around the Civic Center, but not a ton. The festival recommends the Denver Post building garage at 101 West Colfax Ave. or the Cultural Center Complex Garage at 12th and Broadway.
