Mikkel Frolich Honore has terminated his contract at Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team and joined EF Education-EasyPost.

The Danish rider had a contract in place with Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team for 2023 but after VeloNews broke the news that the rider was leaving the Belgian team issued a statement.

“Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl would like to announce that Mikkel Honore has been released from his contract with the team, leaving him free to join another squad. We would like to place on record our best wishes and thanks to Mikkel, who has been with the team since 2018.”

Honore had been with the Belgian team since 2019 and had been an important part of the squad’s classics and grand tour ambitions. He raced three editions of the Giro d’Italia, and in 2022 he made his Tour de France debut.

His arrival on EF Education-EasyPost brings the number of Danes on the team to three, with Magnus Cort and Michael Valgren already part of the team.

"I am just super excited," Honore said in a statement issued by his future team.

"It is a new start and chapter for me, and I can't wait to meet all of the management, riders, and staff and get going for next year."

"I can race in almost every kind of terrain and hopefully bring a good mood and atmosphere to the team," Honore added. "I love to race and attack and am looking forward to getting more opportunities with EF. I am excited to go to races with a plan to take the win. I know I have the level and the capacity to do so. We are going to have a very good team."
