Mikio Sakabe RTW Spring 2021

As the only brand to hold its spring show outdoors during Tokyo Fashion Week, Mikio Sakabe was unfortunate that it also fell on the one day it rained. Even so, designers Sakabe and Shueh Jen-Fang pushed forward and presented a collection of sweet dresses and sheer separates.

The pair showed modern takes on bloomers, turning them into pin-striped pants and drawstring shorts, which they paired with white puff-sleeved shirts. Girly frocks were also in abundance, with nipped-in waists, balloon sleeves and ruffled collars or lace-trimmed hoods. Sheer knee-length skirts and slim pants, floral-patterned T-shirts, and roomy shirt jackets provided contrast in the form of casual looks that were more appropriate for most contemporary women.
