Among the many bizarre sentences I ever expected to write, one containing Mike Tindall, Zara Tindall and Barbie was not on the cards. Until this week.

Zara, the daughter of Princess Anne, and her husband Mike celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary on Sunday, taking the opportunity to 'transform' into Barbies.

Sharing a photo with his 597k followers, Mike posted an image of him and Zara as their Barbie likenesses: Zarbie and Ten.

"Thanks for the messages, it’s been a great 12 years. Feel we are getting younger!!! 😂 #zarbieandTen", Tindall captioned the image. The former rugby professional is known for his irreverent sense of humour, often making the late Queen and other royals laugh.

"You wish you had that lid 😂😂😂," English rugby union player Ben Foden commented.

"😂hilarious! How on earth did you do that?! Happy Anniversary to you both xxx" writes another follower.

Married at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh in 2011, Mike and Zara met eight years earlier during the Australian Rugby World Cup and got engaged in 2010. The parents of three children, they're frequently snapped at public events including Wimbledon and Royal Ascot.

Although, never, it has to be admitted, as Barbies. Perhaps Zarbie and Ten will make their first official outing soon? One can only hope.
