A groovy new sequel might be in the works.

Mike Myers might don the glasses, '70s-era outfits, and British accent once again, as the actor hinted at the possibility of a fourth Austin Powers movie.

The 59-year-old actor was promoting his new movie, Amsterdam–which features a star-studded cast , including Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Christian Bale, and many more–when an interviewer asked him about the classic franchise.

According to Entertainment Tonight, he responded to a question about a new Austin Powers film by saying, "I don't know. I'm gonna put a big, firm, written maybe on that."

The last time Myers commented on the long-circulating rumors about a return to the Austin Powers franchise was in early 2022, when he spoke with Parade about the possibility of a new film after he brought back the Dr. Evil character for a Super Bowl commercial.

Myers said, "I can neither confirm nor deny the existence or nonexistence of such a program should it exist or not exist, but I would love to see it. I enjoy doing it. I had such a blast making that commercial and I love working with those people."

While the actor's new statement is no more of a confirmation than what he said earlier this year, it hints that there's a good chance of something happening in the future, whether it's next month or next year. At the very least, we know he's interested in revisiting the groovy role.

The Austin Powers franchise originated in 1997 with Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, followed by Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me two years later.

In 2002, a third film came out called Austin Powers in Goldmember, making 2022 the 20-year anniversary of the most recent release—the perfect time to announce a comeback.

Since then, Myers starred in movies like The Cat in the Hat, The Love Guru, and the Shrek series of animated films.

Most recently, he played multiple different characters (like he does in the Austin Powers series) in the Netflix miniseries The Pentaverate.
