28-year-old U.S. Alpine Ski Racer, 2x Olympic Gold Medalist and 7x World Champ Mikaela Shiffrin has the record for most World Cup wins among women, and she also ties Ted Ligety's record for World Cup GS wins out of all American skiers.

Unfortunately, even the GOAT can't ski every race.

The update, posted to Twitter yesterday, announced "a little update from my side about this weekend’s speed series in Altenmarkt Zauchensee… Thanks, everyone, for your support as always!"

Shiffrin apparently caught a cold (hopefully not the same one that's going around Tahoe, because it is gnarly). Due to the sickness, she will be sitting out the upcoming race in Zauchensee to fully recover for the busy competition schedule ahead.

Mikaela wrote, "unfortunately I'm still not feeling fully recovered from this cold so I decided with my team to sit out on Zauchensee in order to focus on building energy back and prep for the upcoming (packed) weeks with Flachau, Jasna, Cortina, and Kronplatz!"

"Definitely bummed to miss out on Zauchensee as it was a big target for me to race that hill again--it's such a cool combo--but I'm not in a place to tackle that right now."

Zauchensee is a high-altitude resort in Austria (altitude means that the resort is relatively snow-sure), and Austria is having a great year.

But, as Mikaela says, "So it goes!"

We're wishing Mikaela a speedy recovery. As speedy as her Slalom times, even.
