This Midwest Farmhouse Got A Masculine Makeover With A Touch of Vintage
Dann Boyles and partner Chip Minor fell in love with this decrepit 1900 farmhouse in Zeeland, Michigan, at first sight. A fan of all things rusty, crusty, chipped, and storied, Dann—a former interior designer who left the industry to open Rebel, a gift boutique he and Chip own—is unafraid of things like oil stains or torn upholstery.
And Dann certainly doesn't care about pedigree. He's as welcoming of castoffs pulled from his grandparents' garage as he is of deals scored at fancy antiques shops. But while Dann loves to collect things, Chip prefers clutter-free zones. To bridge the divide between the couple's styles, Dann focused on what they both love: graphic typography, things that remind them of their childhoods, and the many friends and family they welcome with open arms, day and night, with and without invitations.
Cozy Layers
The living room sofa is slipcovered in toss-and-wash cotton chambray. The hand-painted antique basket is Dann's favorite item in the room. Layered rugs under the plush coffee table add extra softness and texture.
