Middle-school boys hand out carnations to every girl at their school for Valentine's Day
A group of middle schoolers are already proving to be exceptional gentlemen after their plans of giving every girl in their school a flower for Valentine’s Day was successful.
Summit Trail Middle School in Olathe, Kan. shared photos on their Facebook page of three boys holding a bucket of pink carnations.
Sarah Guerrero, the school’s principal, told USA Today that one of the boys behind the plan, the fittingly named Tristan Valentine, approached her with the idea a few weeks ago.
“He wanted every young lady to feel special that day and accepted,” Guerrero said of the 8th-grader.
Valentine, along with 7th-grader Kyan Rice and 6th-grader Lincoln Holmes, arranged the funding, even using some of their own money, to purchase the flowers. On Valentine’s Day, they distributed the gifts on the doorsteps of classrooms, ensuring that no girl went without a flower. Attached were messages like “Happy Valentine’s Day” and “Hope you feel special today.”
About 270 girls took home a pink carnation, as well as 70 male and female staff members.
The gesture was not lost on the girls. One, wearing her flower in her hair, approached the principal and told her that she used to hate Valentine’s Day at her old school because no one made her feel special.
