OSHKOSH Wis. WFRV – Hundreds gathered in Oshkosh on Sunday for the Mid Wisconsin Chippers 48th annual Artistry in Wood carving show, the show featured nearly 100 vendors and carvers.

“It’s very nice getting together, the comradery we have so much fun just getting involved and then whatever we make we are just so happy with, so it really is a pleasure,” explained Carver Jackie Silva.

Mid-Wisconsin Chippers board member Dick Krummick says the show allows viewers to discover hidden gems in the community.

“To see the craft of their neighbors some of the stuff that’s done here is beautiful we call it wood art if we look at it that way, it’s a piece of wood that lived at one time and we transformed it into a piece of art,” stated Krummick.

Carvers say they enjoy showing their work at the annual event.

“This is an excellent show to see wood carving, this is an art that’s a little different than most arts,” said master carver Richard Young.

The Wisconsin Mid Chippers will celebrate their 50th anniversary next year.
