Here's Who Won 'The Masked Singer' Season 4

In 2020, we all need some reminders that the world is still turning. Yes, that thought is a particularly dark one, but we'll take what we can get. Somehow, the idea that people still go on live TV to do completely ridiculous things, such as sing in absurd costumes, brings about a deranged sense of comfort. Season 4 of Fox's The Masked Singer offered one more show to keep us distracted from the garbage fire burning around us. In fact, on episode 1, the show was introduced as "TV's craziest show at the time we need it the most." Host Nick Cannon made a mask joke immediately: "Finally we have something fun involving masks."
The costumes this season were…what's the word? Intriguing. Sure, let's go with that. There's a dragon, a pair of very Rocky Horror Picture Show lips, a giraffe dressed like a founding father, a jellyfish that also resembles some kind swamp creature, a mushroom, a bucket of popcorn, a snow owl with two heads, something called a "squiggly monster," a "Whatcha Macallit," "The Gremlin," and…the Sun.
These characters were a handful for panelists Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, Ken Jeong, and Jenny McCarthy. But they managed to get several guesses correct in the end.
Here are the celebrities who have been revealed behind the mask each week.
The People Behind the Masks
Week 11: Nick Carter, Aloe Blacc, and winner LeAnn Rimes
Nick Carter was revealed to be the Pink Crocodile to…no one's surprise. McCarthy was the only person on the show to guess this artist, but she was right. Fans were convinced for most of the season that the Croc was Carter after tying a hint in the clue package to his biography. Carter, who sang "Open Arms" by Journey on the finale, very sweetly told his "croc-lings" (his kids with wife Lauren Kitt) that he did this show for them.
Mushroom turned out to be singer Aloe Blacc, who said he took inspiration from his daughter, Mandela, for the character. He gave Scherzinger the gift of cookie dough ice cream. He has a hit song "I Need a Dollar." Dollar? Dough? Both Scherzinger and Thicke guessed that Blacc was behind the mask. They were right, but they weren't the panelists to take home the Golden Ear award for the most correct guesses. McCarthy earned that one.
LeAnn Rimes, who was also everyone's top guess by the end, was The Sun. She was also crowned champion of the show, mostly because of her impeccable vocals. She told panelists that she joined the competition to "give and receive love." She certainly did just that; I love you, LeAnn Rimes!
Week 10: Taylor Dayne, Chloe Kim, and Tori Kelly
On December 2, we finally made it to the Super Six, where Sun and Popcorn (Group A), Seahorse and Pink Crocodile (Group B), and Mushroom and Jellyfish (Group C) all faced off to send three characters packing. At the end of the night, super-fans who dug deep to provide their best guesses should've been proud of themselves. Popcorn turned out to be Taylor Dayne, Jellyfish was Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim, and Seahorse revealed herself to be Tori Kelly. All three of these women were the top fan guesses, and all three of them slayed last night.
The most impressive of the group, in my opinion, was Kim, who admitted it was her first time ever performing in public. Both Kelly and Dayne have spent decades in the entertainment industry, but Kim isn't used to the spotlight as a singer.
"I'm such a big fan of all of you guys, so this whole experience was just so amazing for me," she told the panel. "You guys gave me so much confidence after each week, and it's just been such a fun experience to be able to put myself out there, be vulnerable. Like, I really, really appreciate it."
Week 9: Paul Anka
On Thanksgiving, The Masked Singer hosted the Group C finals, and in a fitting move, the audience voted to unmask an American treasure (well, actually, a Canadian-American treasure) dressed as food. The person under the Broccoli costume turned out to be Anka, who soothed us with "Take Me Down" by Alabama, "House is Rockin'/Whole Lotta Shakin Going On" by Stevie Ray Vaughan/Jerry Lee Lewis, and "Hello" by Lionel Richie.
"It was a great, great kick," Anka tolf the panelists. "You know, these 65 years, I've never been out of work. So, I said, 'You know what? I gotta get on the boards again, 'cause I'm gonna come home and enjoy it with the kids. And I gotta tell ya something: I'm very humbled, because we have gone through something in our country. To have this kind of fun and enjoy this like this, you should all be very proud, okay?"
Week 8: Lonzo Ball and Dr. Elvis Francois
The New Orleans Pelicans player was behind the Whatchamacallit costume after being the number one fan guess. Ball, who is a rapper as well as a professional NBA player, was the obvious choice after all of those basketball references in the clues package. He said he performed on the show for his mom, who would get a kick out it.
Dr. Elvis Francois, the singing doctor whose covers have brightened the spirits of people across the U.S. during the COVID-19 pandemic, was, indeed, the Serpent.
"Patients oftentimes turn on the televisions while they're in the hospital," he said, before Ken Jeong tearfully thanked Elvis for doing "what a real doctor does" and getting people through a hard time. Yeah, um, excuse me while I join the tears.
Week 7: Clint Black and Lisa Hartman Black
This reveal was no shocker for fans who recognized the familiar twang of this long-married country duo. This is the second week in a row that Scherzinger guessed the face(s) behind the character correctly.
"When I first saw the costumes, I actually cried," Lisa said, once unmasked. "Because they're so beautiful, but they're so sweet. I couldn't wait to get into them." Clint added: "Y'all are so nice and made us feel good every time!"
They closed out the show with their cover of Andrea Bocelli's "The Prayer" that really makes my fragile, post-2020 election soul shake.
Week 6: Bob Saget
Remember America's favorite TV dad, Danny Tanner? He really loved to clean, give a sappy pep talk, and was always ready with a dad joke. Now, apparently, Danny Tanner goes on America's goofiest competition show as a character called "Squiggly Monster" to sing "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" by Creedence Clearwater Revival (week 5) and "Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones (week 6). Last night, Bob Saget received the fewest fan votes of everyone in Group C, and was, as a result, unmasked.
The panelists' final guesses were: Gary Cole (Scherzinger) and Bob Saget (Wayne Brady). Turns out guest panelist Brady was right on the money. "We're all going through a tough time; I get to be part of your joy, and it's needed so bad," Saget said.

Week 5: Wendy Williams
This week, we met Group C and heard them all perform for the first time, but there was one character in particular whose voice was easy to guess. The unveiling confirmed it: Talk show host Wendy Williams sang the disco song “Native New Yorker.” Technically, Wendy is from Jersey, but we’ll give it to her. She admitted to not being a singer or a dancer, and none of the panelists fought her on that point. Both McCarthy and Scherzinger guessed Williams, but both seemed nervous that the famously outspoken TV personality would roast them on their own show. She did ask Cannon if he was going to get back together with his ex-wife, Mariah Carey. And folks, he was just awkward enough to raise a few eyebrows...
Week 4: Mark Sanchez
Baby Alien was revealed to be former NFL player and sports commentator Mark Sanchez, who absolutely none of the panelists guessed. McCarthy thought Baby Alien might be Nick Kroll, Jeong thought it was Freddy Prinze, Jr., and Thicke guessed Jason Biggs. Scherzinger thought the alien could be comedian and ventriloquist Jeff Dunham.
When Sanchez revealed himself, everyone was shocked. But then he charmed the panelists by saying the best part of the show was "sharing this experience with my little man." His son, who's just a toddler, was the main reason behind Sanchez's retirement in 2019. The panel was pretty impressed with his ventriloquist skills, though. Maybe he has a future there!
Week 3: Brian Austin Green
We found out the person behind the Giraffe mask is absolutely not anyone from the Hamilton cast. Instead, it's Brian Austin Green, Megan Fox's longtime on-again-off-again husband (they're currently off; Fox is with Machine Gun Kelly). There was a major "fox" detail, and the panelists did bring up Transformers. But no one guessed Green. Poor guy's had a rough year—someone show him some love.
Week 2: Mickey Rourke
In an unprecedented moment on the show, Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke, who was disguised as the Gremlin, took his mask off of his own volition, effectively eliminating himself from the show. "No, I want to take this off right now," Rourke said, his voice still disguised under his mask. The panelists didn't seem to know anything about this surprise reveal. "What's happening?," Jenny McCarthy asked. "It's not that part of the show yet!," Cannon exclaimed, as he made a show of trying to keep Rourke's mask on.
And then, we saw him. "I was in the neighborhood," Rourke said, when Cannon asked why he joined the show. Classic.
Week 1: Busta Rhymes
So, uh, Jeong thought The Dragon was Michael Phelps, because of a vague reference to "gold" in the clue package. But there was no way this deep, husky, clearly rap-adjacent voice belonged to anyone other than actual, professional rapper Busta Rhymes. Scherzinger and Thicke both guessed the man behind the dragon was Busta; Nick Cannon put his vote toward the rapper, too. And they were right. Sorry, Michael Phelps. Your rapping career is…probably never going to happen.
