Mick Jagger is mourning the loss of his good friend and fellow music icon, Tina Turner.

Shortly after the news broke of Turner's death on Wednesday, May 24, the Rolling Stones frontman took to Twitter to offer his condolences and share some of his fondest memories with the "Proud Mary" songstress.

"I’m so saddened by the passing of my wonderful friend Tina Turner," Jagger, 79, wrote in his tweet on Wednesday, sharing a series of photos of Turner performing on stage. "She was truly an enormously talented performer and singer."

He went on to call her "inspiring, warm, funny and generous" in the tweet, which also included two photos of the two legendary musicians performing together. "She helped me so much when I was young and I will never forget her."

As Parade reported earlier on Wednesday, Turner died at her home of Küsnacht, near Zurich, Switzerland. She was 83.

The Queen of Rock 'n Roll had reportedly been battling a long illness prior to her death, though further details regarding the cause of her death have not been revealed.

Her manager confirmed the news with a post on social media, which read, "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow."

"Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly," the message concluded.

But so far Jagger isn't the only celebrity to pay his respects to the "What's Love Got to Do with It" artist, as celebrity tributes have been pouring in nonstop since the news of her passing.
