Michigan Second Graders' Drawings of Adoptable Shelter Animals Tug at the Heartstrings

This should help find these pups their forever homes!

It's crucial to instill a love and respect for animals in children from a young age. By raising awareness about the significant number of homeless animals in our communities, we can foster empathy and compassion towards dogs and cats in young minds. That's why we love when elementary teachers give their kids assignments like the one in the video shared by the TikTok account @mi_animalrescueleague.

Check out these amazing drawings showing reasons why someone should adopt a pet this second grade class did for the shelter! It's so heartwarming.

The Lakewood second graders did such a fantastic job that it's impossible to pick a favorite. We do love Olaf's little ears and bbbgy's one eye. TikTok users are loving this assignment too. Viewer @BR comments, "Awwww, look at those adorable faces and their amazing portraits!" @Lee adds, "These are so cute! Such a great idea!" And @Heather sweetly replies, "This is so precious. Please tell me why I'm uncontrollably crying like a crazy lady." Awwww.

Teaching kids to care about animals early on can have a positive impact on their attitudes towards all living beings. Not only does it help them develop a sense of responsibility and kindness, but it also promotes a healthier relationship with nature and the environment. We can only hope that exposing kids to shelter animals with assignments like these it will lead to them growing into adults who support their local shelters.

Gotta start 'em young on the road to responsible pet parenting.
