Michigan Pit Bull Gets in Car Crash and Runs to Doggy Day Care for Help

A three-year-old Pit Bull Mix named Aries became frightened when she was involved in a minor car crash in Michigan last Saturday. Even though no one was hurt in the crash, Aries took off from the vehicle and ran a mile away from where the accident occurred.

Where this amazingly clever girl ended up is just the best outcome ever.

WXYZ7 reports that Aries owner, Melissa Fickel, always thought Aries was a smart dog but she had no idea her pup was this smart.

“I had the windows down because Aries likes to hang her head out," Fickel said. "As soon as there was that smack, as soon as I felt and heard it, almost instantaneously, she was out the window.”

Fickel was terrified about what happened to her dog, until she received a call from Hounds Town Metro Detroit - the doggy day care where Aries spends a lot of time.

Aries had ran about a mile to the doggy day care and waited for help. That's just such an incredible story! She knew right where to go! Not only does this show how smart this dog is, but I bet this doggy day care takes fantastic care of her because that's where she ran off to!

What an absolutely wonderful ending to this story. We are so glad both Aries and her owner are safe, and these two were quickly reunited.

How To Choose A Doggy Day Care

The idea of leaving your baby, whether it's your human baby or fur baby, in the care of someone else can be such a stressful decision! Choosing a doggy day care where your pup will be happy and you will feel happy and confident leaving your dog is a big decision, but here are some steps you can take to make that decision easier.

Ask your friends and family where they take their own pups and why they like the facility. You can also post on social media in your local neighborhood groups like NextDoor.

Visit the facility, and tour where your dog will spend his days. Ask to see both indoor and outdoor areas. Do they have separate spaces for smaller dogs? Designated rest times? Do dogs get outdoor playtimes or walks? Ask questions like if they have grooming add-ons and overnight boarding if needed.

Feel free to ask people dropping off and picking up their dogs questions. Do they like the facility?

And as awful as this is, you should also ask what the protocol is in case of emergency. There have been some tragic cases in the news of disasters happening at doggy day cares so it will put your mind at ease to know you will be contacted in case of emergency and how the day care plans on keeping dogs safe.
