Michelle Williams Wins Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie

In 2018, it was Nicole Kidman for Big Little Lies. In 2019, it was Patricia Arquette for Escape at Dannemora. And now, the Golden Globes are honoring another talented actress.

Tonight, television’s biggest stars gathered at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles for the 77th annual Golden Globes. During the ceremony, Michelle Williams was awarded Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her role as Gwen Verdon in Fosse/Verdon.

Other nominees included Kaitlyn Dever for Unbelievable, Joey King for The Act, Helen Mirren for Catherine the Great and Merritt Wever for Unbelievable.

Both Fosse/Verdon (which earned a total of three nominations) and Unbelievable (which earned a total of four nominations) also received nods for Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.

Last year, Arquette beat out Amy Adams for Sharp Objects, Connie Britton for Dirty John, Laura Dern for The Tale and Regina King for Seven Seconds.

The award for this category was first presented at the 39th Golden Globe Awards in 1982 to Jane Seymour for her performance in East of Eden. Since its inception, the award has been given to 35 actresses, including tonight’s winner.

Congratulations to Williams and all the deserving nominees!
