Michelle Obama's mom was not impressed by her Grammys gig: 'Did you meet any of the real stars?'

Michelle Obama‘s surprise appearance was the talk of the Grammys — but her own mother was a little underwhelmed.

While the former FLOTUS scored a standing ovation as she helped open Sunday’s show alongside Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jennifer Lopez and Alicia Keys, a text she’s shared from her mom, Marian Robinson, undoubtedly put her ego in check.

“I guess you were a hit at the Grammys,” Robinson, who quietly lived in the White House during former President Barack Obama‘s two terms, wrote her famous daughter.

She goes on to text that she watched the awards show, then delivers this cutting remark: “Did you meet any of the real stars or did you run right after you were done?”

Her daughter evidently wasn’t stung by the remark, joking, “I am a real star … by the way.”

Robinson’s deadpan response: “Yeah.”

Obama wrote about her modest Chicago upbringing in her memoir, Becoming, which also details how Robinson resisted offers to move into the White House before finally agreeing for the sake of her granddaughters. Despite her upscale address, she cherished her independence and anonymity, insisting on doing her own chores and declining invitations to swanky parties.

From the sound of it, not much has changed about her “that don’t impress me much” attitude — much to the delight of her daughter’s followers.

“Every mother in the history of ever,” one commenter said.

“Trust mum to ALWAYS bring you back down to earth!” added a commenter. “This is hilarious.”

“Leave it to moms to keeps us humble,” one fan added.

“Are all moms like this?” joked another.

Maybe so — even if you’ve achieved FLOTUS status.
