From Oprah Magazine

  • Former First Lady Michelle Obama recently debuted her own podcast on Spotify.

  • This week, she's talking to her friend Dr. Sharon Malone, MD.

  • Michelle and Dr. Malone talk all things women's health, including whether men could handle period cramps.

Michelle Obama has been inspiring women with her wise words for many years. Now, the former FLOTUS is speaking out on a new platform: "The Michelle Obama Podcast."

If you loved reading Becoming or watching her tour on Netflix, you can't miss this new project. Michelle goes deep with her fam and friends, and it feels like you're a fly on the wall, eavesdropping on intimate convos. It's super easy to tune into Michelle's new podcast, too. When you're overloaded with screentime, just hop on Spotify, search for Michelle Obama Podcast, and there are episodes waiting for your ears.

Michelle's most recent guest is her longtime friend Dr. Sharon Malone, MD, an obstetrics and gynecology specialist in Washington, D.C. The BFFs cover everything your mother didn't tell you about health. Naturally, they get real about women's health, menopause, aging, and much more real quick.

Michelle gets right to the point: "How many men, do you think, could deal with the severest form of cramps, which, literally feels like, a knife being stabbed, and turned and then released. And then turned! And then released. And you got to do that, and you got to get up and keep going [snaps], it’s like, go to work,

"Go to school," Malone added.

"Go to school, you know, go play on the basketball court, every woman who’s playing a sport now, is doing it through all those circumstances. And I don’t know any men who could possibly conceive of what that feels like," Michelle continued. "If we can’t acknowledge what’s going on with us, we can’t, we can’t fully celebrate, just how amazing we are. We got a whole channel dedicated to men throwing a ball in a hoop, and I love sports, I love watching men play sports. I get it. But there should be like, some, birthing channels, [laughs] just some, Did you see what she did, did you see that little woman push a ten pound baby out, let’s give here a, where’s her ESPY?, or there should be an award ceremony!"

Michelle calls her new project "soul nourishing." "It’s given me the opportunity to reflect and the space to have long, open-ended conversations with some of my closest friends," she shared in a recent Instagram post.

The Michelle Obama podcast just got started, but she's already chatted away with Barack Obama and former All Things Considered host Michele Norris.

I'll be here waiting for whoever Michelle has on next!
