Michael Palin shares how he is coping with grief after wife’s death

Michael Palin has shared how he is coping with grief after the death of his wife, Helen Gibbins.

The Monty Python star announced last May that his wife of 57 years had died after suffering from chronic pain and kidney failure.

The 80-year-old spoke about his return to work with a new travel documentary Nigeria, on Nick Robinson’s Radio 4 Today programme on Monday (15 April).

He said: “I needed to do something.

“I know that Helen would have wanted me to carry on working and I believe that you can’t just stop and retreat into the past.

“You’ve got to look at the future.”
