Michael Jordan's 1998 NBA Finals Jersey From 'Last Dance' Fetches Record $10.1 Million USD at Auction

Although Michael Jordan has retired from the NBA for nearly 20 years, it does not stop his legacy from ascending boundaries. In a recent Sotheby's auction, his famous The Last Dance 1998 NBA Finals jersey that he wore in Game 1, has just sold for a record $10.1 million USD.

The red Chicago Bulls jersey sold for a two-times its original estimate, shattering records as the most expensive game-worn sports memorabilia ever sold at auction. This also tops any Michael Jordan object ever-sold. Prior to the jersey sale, the most expensive piece of Jordan relic sold only for $2.7 million USD. The piece was an autographed card from the 1997-98 NBA season. A Kobe Bryant game-worn jersey from 1996-97 sold for $3.7 million USD and now this Jordan jersey has overtaken another sale of Diego Maradona's "Hand of God" jersey which sold for $9.3 million USD.

This particular jersey was worn by Jordan on June 3, 1998 during the championship game against the Utah Jazz in his final season with the Bulls. Fans know the season as "The Last Dance." The infamous face-off garnered its own Netflix docuseries by the same name. Take a look above at the jersey.
