Michael Jordan and Melania Side with LeBron James Over Donald Trump

Ahead of an Ohio rally on Saturday, Donald Trump took time out of his presidential schedule of buns-less Big Macs and binge-watching Fox News to insult LeBron James, saying that not only was James "dumb," but that the president prefers Michael Jordan anyway.

It makes sense that Trump would reach so far back for an NBA player he finds palatable, since as far as he's concerned the only good things happened in the '80s and '90s. But it's harder and harder for Trump to find people willing to be neutral around him, and the typically apolitical Jordan gave a short statement affirming that if he has to pick sides, he won't pick the president's.

Melania Trump was less terse. Per CBS News:

"It looks like LeBron James is working to do good things on behalf of our next generation and just as she always has, the first lady encourages everyone to have an open dialogue about issues facing children today," the first lady's spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, said in a statement. "As you know, Mrs. Trump has traveled the country and world talking to children about their well-being, healthy living, and the importance of responsible online behavior with her Be Best initiative. Her platform centers around visiting organizations, hospitals and schools, and she would be open to visiting the I Promise School in Akron."

Melania hasn't done much to deserve the good will people direct at her, she just happens to be a blank enough slate to inspire "Free Melania" hashtags. But if nothing else, she seems to have a flair for using her position and causes to razz Trump. While it takes the president's daughter Ivanka months to decide where exactly she falls on her dad's controversies, like putting kids in cages, the First Lady seems to be as willing to troll her husband as much as she does everyone else.
