Many things have confused us in the year 2020, but naming Michael B. Jordan as the Sexiest Man Alive is not one of them. If anything, the only question we have is why it didn't happen sooner.

The Creed and Black Panther star received the annual title from People magazine, which unveiled the news late last night. And, how can you argue with the selection when Instagrams like this exist?

"It's a cool feeling," Jordan, 33, told People of the honor. "You know, everybody always made that joke, like, 'Mike, this is the one thing you're probably not going to get.' But it's a good club to be a part of."

We have no idea who has been telling Jordan these lies, but we're glad he's part of the club now too. The actor follows recent recipients John Legend (2019), Idris Elba (2018), Blake Shelton (2017), Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (2016), David Beckham (2015), and Chris Hemsworth (2014). Jordan is the 35th man, fifth person of color, and third Black celebrity in a row to receive the title.

Jordan's kin have long been fans of the magazine's Sexiest Man Alive franchise, especially the women in his family, who "are definitely proud of this one," he told People. "When my grandmother was alive, it was something that she collected, and then my mom naturally reads it a lot and my aunts as well," he added. "This is one that they're definitely going to have a special place for."

Though Jordan is clearly deserving of the distinction for his looks and impressive film career, he's also being honored for his work promoting racial justice and equity. He's long been a vocal advocate and participant in the Black Lives Matter movement (this summer, he delivered a powerful speech at a Los Angeles protest), and his production company, Outlier Society, adopted an inclusion rider to increase diversity and equality in the entertainment industry.

Twitter celebrated the obvious but nonetheless joyous news. Read through some of the best reactions below.
