Michael B Jordan has explained why Sylvester Stallone won't appear as Rocky Balboa in Creed III. Earlier this month, it was confirmed that the Italian Stallion will not feature in the third Creed film and Jordan's directional debut, despite starring in the first two Creed movies and the entire Rocky series.

Speaking recently, the Black Panther star shed some light on Rocky's absence from the picture.

While it's not known exactly what Rocky's fate is, and how or if his absence will be explained on screen, Jordan explained that Creed III will instead focus on establishing the "Creed franchise." As a result, the filmmakers are aiming to "build this story and this world around [Adonis] moving forward."

"I think that Sly let it be known that he wasn't coming back for this one but I think, you know, his essence and his spirit... there's always going to be a little bit of Rocky within Adonis," he told IGN.

"But this is a Creed franchise, and we really want to build this story and this world around him moving forward. So, it's always respect and always a shit-ton of love for what he's built, but we really want to push and navigate Adonis forward and the family that he created. "So, hopefully you guys will love what I'm thinking... what we're cooking up. I think it's going to be something special."
