This Miami pizza spot was named one of the best in the U.S. Now it’s closed

A beloved Miami pizza institution will be serving pies no more.

Famous for its wood-fired Neapolitan pies, Stanzione 87 at 87 SW Eighth St. in Brickell announced that it has closed after 11 years.

The restaurant, which was named one of the top 50 pizzas in the United States in 2022 by the Italian guide 50 Top Pizza, announced the news on its Instagram account.

“We would like to inform our patrons that we will no longer be serving pizza out of our Brickell location,” the post read. “We never imagined we would be serving the Brickell community for over 11 years when we began our mission to bring Neapolitan pizza to Miami. Thank you for all of the years of support and your patronage.”

The post hinted that Stanzione 87 may return in some form in the future: “Don’t worry our pizza will still be available,” the post said. “We will keep you posted on our happenings and will be serving the Miami community soon.”

On his personal Instagram account, owner Franco Stanzione, who opened his Brickell spot when he was 23, indicated the same: “See you soon,” he wrote on a post featuring a heart-shaped pizza.

Also the owner of Ash! Pizza Parlor at The Citadel food hall, which remains open, Stanzione told Eater Miami that changes in the Brickell neighborhood have “oversaturated” the neighborhood and made staying open impossible.

”The value proposition just isn’t there anymore for the customer base in Brickell,” he told Eater.
