Mia Farrow and Tisa Farrow

Tisa Farrow—the younger sister of actress Mia Farrow and who appeared in several films like Zombie (1979) and Anthropophagus (1980)—has died. She was 72.

Mia, 78, confirmed the news of her sisters death in a social media post on Thursday, Jan. 11, revealing that Tisa "died unexpectedly" the day prior after passing "apparently in her sleep."

"If there is a Heaven, undoubtedly my beautiful sister Tisa is being welcomed there," Mia wrote alongside a throwback photo of her baby sister, whose full name is Theresa Magdalena Farrow. "She was the best of us—i have never met a more generous and loving person. She loved life & never complained. Ever."

Tisa was the youngest of the seven Farrow children, made up of brothers Michael and Patrick (who died in a plane crash in 1958 and by suicide in 2009, respectively), as well as brother Charles, and sisters Mia, Prudence and Stephanie.

Tisa was married producer Terry Deane, the father of her son Jason, who died fighting for the U.S. Army in Iraq in 2018. She was also a mother to daughter Bridget and a grandmother to grandson Kylor.

In Thursday's Instagram post, Mia went on to honor Tisa's legacy, writing, "She was a nurse for 27 years, a wonderful sister to Steffi, Prudence and me, a devoted mother to Jason, who died in Iraq, Bridget and little grandson Kylor —the lights of her life."

In addition to her notable roles in Zombie (1979) and Anthropophagus (1980), Tisa also appeared in films such as Homer (1970), Some Call It Loving (1973), Strange Shadows in an Empty Room (1976) and Fingers (1978).

"She died unexpectedly yesterday morning. Apparently in her sleep," Mia shared, concluding her post by noting, "This is a hard time for all of us who admire and love her so deeply."

Mia's followers and several of her fellow actors in the industry took to the comments to offer their condolences, including actresses Mary McCormackLesley Ann Warren, Tatum O'Neal and Molly Ringwald, who all left heartfelt notes to Mia in the comments.
