Singer Justin Timberlake’s support of the #TimesUp anti-sexual harassment movement has come under fire from Dylan Farrow, the adopted daughter of Woody Allen.

She called the singer out for working with her adoptive father, whom she alleges molested her when she was seven, when he tweeted a question about a common figure of speech.

“Random question: Can someone please explain the saying, ‘You just want your cake and to eat it too,’” Timberlake asked on Tuesday, January 23. “What else am I about to do with a cake??”

Farrow took this as an opportunity to point out that Timberlake’s role in Allen’s latest film Wonder Wheel could be seen as at odds with a tweet of him sporting a #TimesUp pin on his way to the Golden Globes earlier this month.

Farrow, now 32,said: “The saying means, for example, you can’t support #TIMESUP and praise sexual predators at the same time. You can’t retain your credibility as an activist (ie – retain the cake) and, at the same time, praise a sexual predator (i.e. - eating the cake).”

Farrow first went public with the claims that her adoptive father had sexually assaulted her in Vanity Fair in 2013, and gave her first television interview on the subject on CBS’s This Morning last week.

Following the CBS interview, Woody Allen released this statement to US Weekly: “When this claim was first made more than 25 years ago, it was thoroughly investigated by both the Child Sexual Abuse Clinic of the Yale-New Haven Hospital and New York State Child Welfare.

“They both did so for many months and independently concluded that no molestation had ever taken place. Instead, they found it likely a vulnerable child had been coached to tell the story by her angry mother during a contentious breakup.”

Justin Timberlake has not yet responded to the tweet.
