On December 28, Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released from Missouri's Chillicothe Correctional Center after eight years for her role in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. Gypsy Rose celebrated her freedom with her family, including her step-sister, Mia Blanchard.

Gypsy Rose's parents, Dee Dee Blanchard and Rod Blanchard, met while he was a 17-year-old high school student. The two dated for a few months before Dee Dee, then 24, became pregnant with Gypsy Rose. They separated in 1991, and Rod remarried a few years later to Kristy Blanchard. The couple have welcomed two children together, Gypsy Rose's step-siblings, Mia and Dylan, per People.

A few years ago, she posted a story of her hugging Dylan while on a boat. "Boat days are our fave," she wrote on the pic.

Dylan is the middle of the three Blanchard children, but doesn't seem to have much of a social media presence.

She advocated for Gypsy Rose's release.

In the Lifetime documentary The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, Mia discussed Gypsy Rose's sentence and said "I always thought that 10 years was too long," and that "She deserved to be in jail but she also deserved to get help," per People.

Mia also shared that "I feel sorry Gypsy Rose didn’t get the life that I got to live." She explained, "I got to grow up with a loving father and a loving mother, I got to grow up going to school with my friends, hanging out with my friends, learning to do all these things and she never had that. That was taken away from her by her mother," according to People.

Mia believes her sister deserved jail time, but is "proud" of her "growth."

While she believes there's a lot of work ahead for Gypsy Rose to overcome her trauma, and that she deserved to serve time for her part in the murder of her mother, Mia said in the Lifetime documentary that "She's made a lot of mistakes but she's learning," and that "she's growing into a beautiful woman that can own up to her stuff when she needs to." She added, "I am very proud of her," per People.

She wanted Gypsy Rose to wait to get married.

Gypsy Rose married hubby Ryan Anderson in 2022 while she was in prison. In this bonus scene from The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, Mia shared,"I kind of wish she would have just waited so she can live at home with mom and dad. It would be easier for family time." She explained, "It would be easier to create that bond with her that we were both robbed of, me and my brother. And it's just not going to be the same as if she would have been living at home."

Rod and Kristy agreed with their daughter. Rod admits that it's not what they were "hoping for" but they just want Gypsy Rose to be happy.

She was worried Gypsy's marriage would end in a divorce.

In the The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard Mia shared that she wasn't too sure about her sister getting married. "She doesn't know what it's like to live with a man and I'm just worried it'll end in divorce. I don't want to make her feel like I don't support her or that she's still being controlled, but I never met him," per People.

Once she met Ryan, she said the conversation they had put her "at ease," but that didn't stop her from worrying about Gypsy Rose getting married so quickly. "I’m not going to keep from doing anything, I want her to live," she explained in the documentary. "But she has a whole life to experience, a whole life to live," People reported.

It's clear Mia loves Gypsy and only wants the best for her big sis!
