New Mexico Grown participants encouraged to apply for Golden Chile Awards

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Applications for the Golden Chile Awards have opened. The recipients will be recognized for many things, such as creating gardens, serving locally sourced foods, and educating and engaging with the community.

The New Mexico Department of Health (NMHealth) said any New Mexico Grown participants can apply for the Golden Chile Awards. Several applications apply; see them below.

“New Mexico Grown is an important program that nourishes New Mexico school-age children, older adults, and families with fresh, locally produced food,” said Secretary Patrick Allen for NMHealth. “We are proud to be able to recognize the great work of the local farmers, ranchers, food producers, food hubs, state agencies, and food banks that participate in the program.”

The application process ends on May 31. Winners will be announced in August with a ceremony on October 24. Click here to learn more.
