It’s been a long time coming. First announced in a 2005 edition of Game Informer, Metroid Dread is finally available for pre-order. This highly-anticipated Nintendo title is a return to form for the Metroid series, as Metroid Dread will be the first 2D side-scrolling game to join the lineup since Metroid Fusion debuted in 2002 — and it’s even a direct sequel to its 19-year-old predecessor.

You shouldn’t have any problems finding Standard Edition copies available for pre-order, but the Special Edition sold out quickly when it first became available. Some retailer sites (such as Best Buy) show a greyed-out “Coming Soon” button instead of “Currently Unavailable” or “Sold Out,” so you might get a second chance at a Special Edition version if you weren’t able to snag one the first time around.

While we’ve only seen one pre-order discount and no in-game pre-order bonuses, you can score exclusive Metroid merch when you take advantage of these retailer-specific preorder deals. Supplies are limited — be sure to act quickly if you see something you like!

Standard Edition – $59.99

If you don’t feel like paying an extra $30 or hunting down a rare copy of the sold-out Special Edition, you can pre-order the Standard version of Metroid Dread wherever Switch games are sold. The core game is exactly the same between the two versions, so no need to worry about missing out on any exclusive features.

Special Edition – $89.99

After surviving a long drought devoid of new Metroid content, frenzied fans quickly depleted the preliminary stock of Metroid Dread Special Edition. It is currently unavailable for purchase (outside of the resale market), but there’s a chance that more Special Edition copies will become available closer to October 8th.

On top of the game card and any requisite pre-order bonuses, Metroid Dread Special Edition comes with:

We don’t know when (or if) the Metroid Dread Amiibo Two-Pack will come back into stock, but these perks might entice you into hunting down your own pair of Metroid figures on the resale market:
