Meteorologist Predicts 2+ Feet Of Snow For Pacific Northwest Ski Resorts

Here at POWDER, we've been talking a lot about the New Year bringing a change of pace to those Pacific Northwest ski resorts that have struggled with snowfall so far this winter.

While it's been a lot of "fingers crossed" and "here's hoping" thus far, meteorologist Chris Tomer's latest forecast provides something more concrete to the tune of possible heavy PNW snowfall in the coming days.

The highlight of Tomer's forecast focuses on January 5th through the 11th. During this period, PNW heavyweights like Timberline, Mt. Bachelor, Stevens Pass, and Mt. Baker are predicted to receive 2+ feet of snow across two storm tracks. The upper ends of this forecast call for as much as six feet of snow in some places. Mt. Bachelor and Timberline are the ones to watch so far.

Like any good forecaster, Tomer touched on the big "if" in the morning edition of his forecast yesterday. The arrival of this snow mid-month is contingent on the current storm track predictions remaining consistent. Should these storm tracks spin-off, the snow might not stack up as expected.

Thus, don't start waxing the powder boards quite yet. Winter weather, as always, remains a fickle beast.

In the meantime, we'll keep you posted as the storms develop. Chris Tomer's weather coverage is another excellent way to keep tabs. He might've posted a more recent update by the time you're reading this.
